"I Was Studying, but felt welding skills Missing"

During my studies, everything looked fine from outside. I was going to college, attending classes, giving exams, doing what a normal student is expected to do. Teachers were teaching theory, notes were getting completed, and semesters were passing but inside, I was not fully satisfied.

I used to think a lot about what will happen after college. I saw many seniors who had degrees but no clear direction. Some were still searching for jobs. Some were working in fields totally different from what they studied. That made me uncomfortable.

I started feeling that study alone is not enough.

I Did Not Want to Depend Only on a Degree

Everyone around me believed one thing very strongly:
“Take a degree we believe you can get skills a job" but real life does not work like that.

I knew marks can help you pass exams, but skills help you survive. In the real world, people don’t ask how much you scored. They ask what you can actually do that thought stayed in my mind for a long time.

I did not want to finish college and then start learning from zero. I wanted to use my study time properly that’s when I seriously thought about learning a practical skill.

Why Welding Came Into My Mind

I had already seen welding work closely. I knew how important welders are in real industries. Construction sites, fabrication shops, factories, plants—everywhere welding is required but I also knew something else.

There is a big difference between:- someone who just knows welding and someone who has proper welding skills because good welders are always respected. Average welders struggle.

So if I was going to learn welding, I wanted to learn it properly.

My final Decision to Join a Welding Course

After thinking a lot, I decided to join an extra welding course along with my regular studies this decision was not easy.

I knew it would mean:

Less rest
More tiredness
Less free time

Some people told me, “Focus on studies only" and some said, “Why getting extra pressure but I was clear about one thing.

Short-term comfort was not my priority. Long-term stability was.

Managing College and Welding Together Was Tough

I won’t lie. Balancing both was difficult:-

College itself takes time. Classes, assignments, exams, attendance—everything demands energy. On top of that, welding training required physical effort.

There were days when I came back from college tired and still went for welding practice. Sometimes my clothes were dusty. Sometimes my hands were tired. Sometimes my body wanted rest.

But still, I went because deep inside, I knew why I was doing it.

First Days in the Welding Course

The first few days in the welding course were humbling.

Even though I had some basic idea, I felt like a beginner again. Holding the electrode properly, maintaining arc length, controlling hand movement—nothing was perfect.

Sometimes my weld bead was uneven.
Sometimes slag covers everything.
Sometimes penetration was not proper.

I made mistakes almost every day but I never felt ashamed I reminded myself:

“You are here to learn, not to look smart.”

Learning Practical Things That College Never Taught

One big difference I noticed was between college teaching and real welding practice.

In college, welding is explained on the board.
In the workshop, welding is felt in the hands.

In the extra course, I learned things like:

how current setting changes weld quality
how small hand movement makes a big difference
how to understand sound of the arc
how important safety is

These are things no book can teach properly only practice can.

Slowly My Confidence Started Growing

At first, I used to doubt myself a lot but after continuous practice, small improvements started coming. My welds became cleaner. Beads looked better. Penetration improved.

One day, the instructor looked at my weld and said, “Now it is improving.”

That sentence stayed with me it was not praise. It was confirmation that effort works that moment gave me confidence that I was on the right path.

Real Life Example: When I Felt Prepared, Not Lucky

There was a time when someone asked me about welding basics, and I could explain clearly. Earlier, I would hesitate. Now, I was confident.

When I realized something important.
I was not depending on luck anymore.
I was building capability.
I feel very powerful.

Physical Tiredness is Real, But So Was Satisfaction

Yes, my body was tired for many days when "i joined Welding Course to Improve My Skills During my Studies" .Hands pain, eyes tired, sweat everywhere. But there was also satisfaction. I felt productive. I felt useful also unlike scrolling phone for hours, this tiredness felt meaningful but i know I was investing in myself.

How This Extra Effort Helped Me Mentally

Learning welding gave me mental peace while others were only worried about exams and results, I felt more secure. I knew I had a skill that would help me earn if needed.

That reduced fear i was not depending only on one path. I had options that confidence changed my mindset.

I Started Taking My Time Seriously

After joining the extra course, my time management improved automatically i stopped wasting time on useless things. I started valuing hours. I understood that time is limited and important.

This habit stayed with me even after studies.

What I Learned From Doing Extra Work During Studies

This experience taught me some very simple but strong lessons:-

Learning early saves struggle later
Skills build confidence faster than marks
Discipline is built through routine
Extra effort today reduces pressure tomorrow

These lessons were not taught in college books this came from experience.

Advice for Students Who Are Only Depending on Degree

If you are studying right now and reading this, I want to say this honestly degree is important, but it is not everything.

If you have time, use it. Learn something practical. It can be welding, electrical, computer skills, anything useful. Don’t wait for college to end don’t wait for “someday because someday never comes.

Looking Back, I Am Glad I Took This Decision

When I look back, joining an extra welding course during my studies was one of my best decisions.

It was tiring.
It was uncomfortable.
It required sacrifice.

But it gave me confidence, skill, and clarit I didn’t become an expert overnight. But I became better than before and that matters.

Final Thoughts

I joined an extra welding course not because I was special, but because I was serious.

Serious about my future.
Serious about my family.
Serious about not wasting time.

This journey taught me that if you use your study time wisely, life becomes a little easier later and for me, that is enough.
